Natural Cures for Warts
They are unsightly, annoying and only too visible!
Some people suffer the annoyance of warts regularly as they are caused by a viral infection in the skin. Warts are highly contagious by nature but especially by those whose immune system may not be functioning fully.
There are many different types of warts and the sizes range from 1mm up to 1cm. Quite often there is only one or two but it is possible to have the warts clustered together and it can take some months after the initial infection for the wart to become visible.
Types of warts
Common wart - resembles a cauliflower and it has a rough surface. Most commonly appears on the fingers, knuckles and knees but can appear anywhere.
Plane wart - occurs on the backs of the hands and especially around the fingers. This type of wart is round, has a flat topped yellowish shape.
Filiform wart - is common on the eyelids, neck or armpits and is a long, slender shaped wart.
Verrucas - are warts which appear on the soles of the feet and these can be painful because the wart grows inwards causing pressure.
Genital warts - appear around the genitalia and tend to be small white lumps or cauliflower shaped. Although they do not often have any symptoms, they are a possible indicator to sexually transmitted diseases.
There are lots of treatments available these days, including over the counter aids, but it is worth remembering that warts do tend to clear up eventually of their own accord. As it can take up to two years though for this to happen and because of their unsightliness and prominence, most people do not wish to wait for that length of time. Some warts can feel a little bit itchy but there is usually nothing to worry about, however if the wart changes shape, it is worth seeking medical advice.
If a more natural approach to health is preferred, there are a few self-help cures such as:
Bananas
Add banana leaves onto the wart and then bandage into place. This should be repeated nightly.
Caster Oil
Caster oil can be dabbed directly onto the wart.
Garlic
Slice a fresh garlic clove and place on the wart, cover over with a bandage or using a plaster. The following day, use Dead Sea mud and cover again with a bandage. Repeat this process each day until the wart has completely gone.
Essential Oils
Apply 1-2 drops of lemon essential oil to a cotton bud and apply directly to the wart. Do not put onto the rest of the unaffected skin.
Healing Meditation
Try using a healing meditation to help reduce and heal the wart. By visualising this process regularly, this can really help to shrink and eliminate the wart.
